ANGEL HAIR FOR KIDS: Is a wonderful Canadian charity dedicated to supplying wigs for children in need who have lost their hair as a result of medication, cancer, alopecia or burns. A program of A Child’s Voice Foundation, it has helped hundreds of children — Angel Hair for Kids pairs each child with an experienced and compassionate salon that sizes, cuts, and styles a wig of the child’s choosing. Each wig is created using 10-12 pony tails of human hair generously donated to the program. The wigs cost between $800 and $1,000 to create. Nisim International (a Canadian success story offering breakthrough products that encourage hair growth, including its FAST shampoo and conditioner system) has been one of the organization’s biggest supporters, having partnered with them for five years — and will be continuing its partnership into the new year. Nisim has recruited over 60 Canadian salons to offer free haircuts to those willing to donate their hair for these wigs. With each haircut, Nisim gifts a free bottle of their FAST Shampoo and Conditioner to the participant.

COVERING THE RED CARPET WITH COVERGIRL: What with all the gorgeous fashion and beautiful people walking that famous red carpet, The 74th Golden Globe Awards is total eye-candy, especially when it comes to such beauties as Sofia Vergara and Janelle Monae — both rocking the CoverGirl brand’s newest launches.

New products included such gems as Outlast All-Day Soft Touch concealer, that offers a smooth matte finish that lasts all day (and costs around $10, depending on where you purchase). As well, the All-Day Matte finishing powder provided an oil-free, shine-control power in a silky finish ($13-$14) and the amazing Intensify Me liquid liner in Sapphire — a liquid liner with a paddle-shaped tip, very dramatic. Of course the Outlast All-Day custom reds lip colours come in a collection that offers just that right-shade of red that complements every skin tone. All these and more now making a big splash to chase away winter blues.

BEARING IT ALL: Just recently, Polar Ice Vodka released a new, limited edition “bearless” bottle to help save the polar bears! Company officials say taking the bear off its classic bottle is a show of support towards our polar bears and to ensure the magic of Canada’s arctic is around for years to come. Keep your eyes peeled for this iconic — and collector’s — bottle, coming to LCBO shelves and wherever vodka is sold Feb. 1.

KISS THE GIRLS WITH LOVELY LASHES: And it was KISS Lash Couture in Little Black Dress that walked the red carpet at the recent 74th Golden Globe Awards, on actress and dancer Jenna Dewan Tatum, who wore that glorious smudgy winged liner look well thanks to celebrity makeup artist Patrick Ta. “I love using KISS Lash Couture Faux Mink Lashes for the red carpet because you want the eyes to pop and these lashes add definition to the eyes but still offer a super natural effect,” said Ta, adding “Little Black Dress enhanced the black smudgy winged liner effect while still looking as natural as possible.”

Both the LashLash Couture Faux Mink Collection and the KISS Lash Couture Strip Lash adhesive cost around $8, and sold wherever KISS products are available, including Walmart nationwide.
