Canada’s biggest faith-based Christian music festival couldn’t have come up with a much bigger name as its Saturday evening headliner.

Organizers for No Greater Love (NGL), scheduled for Aug. 12-13, have announced that country superstar Reba McEntire will headline the festival’s Aug. 12 show. The festival will take place at the Chief Goodstoney Rodeo Lands on the Stoney Nakoda Nation, located 40 minutes west of Calgary.

McEntire’s career is filled with noteworthy achievements, including 35 No. 1 singles and more than 56 million albums sold worldwide. The Country Music Hall of Fame and Hollywood Bowl member has won 15 American Music Awards, 14 ACM Awards, nine People’s Choice Awards, seven CMA Awards and two Grammy Awards, in addition to an ACM Career Achievement Honour and 50th Anniversary Milestone Award for the Most Awarded ACM Female Vocalist of the Year. She was also the first-ever American Country Countdown NASH Icon Award and received a National Artistic Achievement Award from the U.S. Congress.

The Grand Ole Opry member was also a recipient of the Andrea Bocelli Foundation Humanitarian Award and Leadership Music Dale Franklin Award. During her 2011 All The Women I Am Tour, Pollstar and Billboard’s Boxscore named her the No. 1 female country touring artist with a combined total of over nine million tickets sold in her career.

McEntire’s appearance at the No Greater Love festival will be her first visit to the Calgary area since her performance at the 2014 Calgary Stampede.

“Having a major international artist headline a faith-based music festival is unique and as far as we know, has never been done before,” NGL executive producer Karri Ward said in a news release. “We are thrilled to have Reba perform at this year’s festival.”

In February, McEntire released her latest album, “Sing It Now: Songs of Faith and Hope,” as a two-disc collection of 20 songs, including 10 classic hymns and 10 contemporary spiritual songs. The powerful single “Back to God” topped the Billboard Country and Christian/Gospel charts, making it her 13th No. 1 hit.

While McEntire will be the best-known name at the NGL festival, the lineup is packed with plenty of other talent from the Christian music industry, including For King and Country, Building 429, Jamie Grace, and Hawk Nelson, to name just a few. The festival, which debuted to 5,000 concert-goers in 2016, featured Christian music stars Michael W. Smith, Switchfoot and Tenth Avenue North last year.

Tenth Avenue North will return this year and will be part of the Saturday lineup that includes Newsong, Okama, Jamie Grace, Hawk Nelson, We Are Messengers and McEntire.

The Sunday lineup features the NGL Worship Team, Stars Go Dim, Warren Dean Flandez, The Color, Rapture Ruckus, Sidewalk…
