Junior Morias spoke of his gratitude to all at St Albans City as he returned to Clarence Park on Saturday less than two weeks after sealing a move to Sky Bet League One Peterborough United.

The striker, who scored 12 goals in 22 starts for Saints before his switch to The Posh, was back cheering on City as they drew 2-2 with National League leaders Maidenhead United.

Speaking to the Herts Ad about his return to the Football League, the 21-year-old ex-Wycombe Wanderers man said: “I’m just humbled. I’ll remain humble and hungry to just do well.

“I’m grateful, I thank God for the opportunity that has been given.

“Obviously St Albans had faith to give me the opportunity to come here [Clarence Park], play games and enjoy football once again, to love the game again after the season I had last year.

“All I can say is thanks to the owners, the boys, Ian and Lee [Allinson]; they have all been excellent.

“I’m grateful for the opportunity from both sides; from Peterborough and St Albans.

“Given a platform to play games and given an opportunity to go to a great club like Peterborough, I don’t know what to say I’m just humble about the whole thing.”

Morias moved on January 1 and started United’s 1-1 draw at Scunthorpe United the following day.

He was cup-tied for their 4-1 FA Cup defeat at Stamford Bridge to Chelsea on Sunday, but then hit a brace on Tuesday to help the reserves defeat Colchester United 3-2.

And speaking about the early stages of his career at London Road, Morias added: “The boys are sound, everyone is good.

“They are trying to focus my state of mind. The boys have welcomed me well.

“I was humbled to get my first start and was just focussed on what I had to do.”
