Samsung S8 release

Samsung's Galaxy S8 will get an official launch later this year.

Rumours are rife that the flagship smartphone will be unveiled in April but now a report suggests some fans may get a glimpse as early as next month.

A report from the Insider is speculating that Samsung will release a small batch of Galaxy S8 devices as early as next month.

One source told the Korean website that “There is a possibility of the S8 phones being showcased a month or two ahead of the actual release date.”

Samsung is thought to be planning to break with tradition and unveil its new flagship smartphone at a standalone event in New York in April 2017.

This means Samsung would miss its usual reveal date at the Mobile World Congress tradeshow in Barcelona, held this year from 27th February.

It's currently unclear why Samsung will release a small batch of devices but it could stop the usual flurry of leaked pictures spoiling the official unveiling.

Samsung may begin mass production of the device in March with around five million units expected to be produced.

The Korean tech firm appears to be preparing a major design overhaul for its next device.

The Galaxy S8 is expected to launch in two models, one with a 5.1 inch dual-curved display, the other with 5.5 inches – the same screen sizes as the Galaxy S7s.

Unlike the Galaxy S7 range, there will be no separate curved Edge model. Instead, both smartphones will have the curved display.

Along with a new screen the Galaxy S8 is set to drop all physical buttons from the front of the device.

Instead, on-screen virtual buttons will be used to help users navigate around the phone.

It is believed the decision to ditch the capacitive buttons will allow Samsung to reduce the bezels at the bottom of the device.

This will allow the South Korean firm to bring the high-resolution display to the very base of the chassis – like it currently does with the sides of its curved S7 Edge screen.

Samsung Galaxy S8 will get a dramatic new design, with no buttons, and an edge-to-edge displayPH
