Monaghan County Council have formed a committee and are seeking expressions of interest from artists of all levels of experience in creating a statue to be situated outside the Market House, Market Square, Castleblayney, Co. Monaghan. See artists brief for site location.

The piece is to celebrate the achievements of Thomas “Big Tom” Mc Bride and his contribution to music locally and nationally. The commissioners are seeking a figurative bronze sculpture of Big Tom as it is to be a permanent fixture and should require minimum maintenance.

Budget The total budget available for the artwork is €85,000 (inclusive of VAT).

Applications This is a Two Stage commission process. €500 will be made available to the artists selected for Stage 2, who will be invited to present their proposals to the Selection Panel. Stage 1 applications must include:

1. Application form 2. Please provide details of up to 10 examples (minimum 3) of work in the public realm which are relevant and are complete. Hardcopy, CD or USB key accepted. 3. Please provide:

a. Sketches and, or, visualisations of the proposed artwork. b. A project plan which should must include a timeline for each stage of the manufacturing process and an estimated completion date. c.
