COMING SOON?: Amazon may already have a WhatsApp rival in development

After having conquered streaming and shopping, Amazon is facing up against its key rival Facebook, hoping to blow them out of the water with an entirely new messaging service.

Reportedly named Anytime, Amazon is apparently garnering views from their customers on what exactly they want from a messenger, but it seems they might already be developing the service.

A list of potential features reported by AFTV news shows their new service won’t just rival Facebook’s messenger and WhatsApp services, but may even rival the social networking platform as a whole.

Amazon isn’t just stopping at messengers however, as their app will seemingly also rival Snapchat and Instagram, with the ability to add filters and special effects.

Amazon’s most game changing feature however will be its added group capabilities, which lets users play games, order food, and listen to music together.

The big question with a new messenger however, would be how secure it is, since other messengers have had a big focus on encryption.

With Anytime offering so many chances for users to spend money together, it comes as no surprise that the service will allow users to “encrypt important messages like bank details”.

The main problem Amazon will face is being a completely new messaging service in a climate which is already dominated by so many alternatives.

Anytime’s solution to this problem is that it will supposedly allow users to contact their friends with just a name, no number required.

This feature will also apply to the number of devices the messenger will supposedly be available on, as unlike industry leader WhatsApp, the service will run on desktop and mobile devices.

Amazon releasing its own service at this time might not prove to be so fruitful however, as along with WhatsApp, Amazon has recieved low marks in a recent report.

Consumer campaigners the Electronic Frontiers Foundation have recently unveiled their Who's Got Your Back? report which measures company public…
