The head of Interior Ministry's State Elections Committee, Ali Asghar Ahmadi, announced that polls were closed across the country though people present inside polling stations will be allowed to cast their votes. 

At 8:00 a.m. on Friday morning and with official announcement of Interior Minister Rahmani Fazli, polls opened in Iran for presidential and city council elections. In addition to electing the president, Iranians voted for the candidates of City and Village Councils, too.
