MILLER CO., GA (WALB) -

On Monday, a group of 20 to 30 students marched from the high school parking lot to the board of education office after school.

They held signs saying "we stand with Mr.David" and "pirates stand together."

According to the students, they said Kirkland was given the decision on whether to leave or be terminated.

WALB checked with the Superintendent, who said he couldn't comment on the matter citing that it was a "personnel matter"

Sydney Thomas, a senior now, said she was a freshman when Kirkland was hired as the principal.

She said in this four year tenure, he has always been very supportive of all of the students, passionate about their academics and always encouraging.

She organized the protest so students could show how much they support him. "I know the impact Mr.David has had on all of us and what he means to our student body, so I wasn't shocked at all the people who wanted to support him," said Thomas.

"I'm very proud of them for taking a stand and sticking up for what they believe in, I'm very proud of them," Stephanie Sauls,…
