A Lancaster County judge has denied a motion to reconsider the sentence of a Mountville teenager who pleaded guilty to fatally shooting his friend last August.

George Rosado, 18, is serving a three- to six-year sentence followed by 10 years of probation for the death of Ibram Hanna, 15.

Rosado pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter, felony theft and a misdemeanor drug possession before Judge James Cullen on April 28. He was sentenced the same day.

Cullen denied the request by Rosado's defense attorney Adam Szilagyi on Monday.

The sentence, as it stands, is the maximum allowable time for the respective charges.

In the filing, Szilagyi said the sentence is not “illegal nor is it an abuse of discretion,” but it disregards any mitigating conditions that were noted in Rosado's case, including hardships in Rosado's childhood.

Some of the hardships include the incarceration of Rosado's father before Rosado was born and the death of his mother in a car accident when he was 5 years old, an incident that brought about the issue of who should raise him. Struggles with education, rehabilitation and mental health diagnoses were also mentioned.

Szilagyi's filing also notes that the gun used in the shooting was taken “during a 'car-hopping' outing with friends both juvenile and some adult.”

The day of the shooting, Rosado invited Hanna over to his West Main Street home to smoke marijuana and show him the Stoeger Cougar 9m…
