NOTE: This story will be udpated.

Superior High School’s Daisy White enjoyed a pretty good week.

On Thursday the senior picked up two conference championships with record-setting performances in the discus throw and shot put, and then on Friday she signed a letter of intent to attend St. Cloud State University on a track and field scholarship.

White’s record toss of 122 feet, eight inches in the discus broke the previous record of 118-8 set by Two Harbors’ Lonyll Seeley in 2004. Her toss of 33-1 in the shot set a new track record.

Both records came during the Lake Superior Conference Track and Field Championships Thursday at the NBC Spartan Sports Complex.

As a team, the Spartan boys finished in second place and the girls third.

Cloquet swept both team titles.

Kendra Kelly led the Lumberjack girls with four first-place finishes, including new LSC records in the 100 and long jump. She also won the 200 and 400.

Kelly’s time of 12.46 seconds in the 100 broke the old record of 12.50 held by Cloquet’s Jessica Vork in 2006. Her leap of 17-1.75 bested the old record of 16-7.5 set by Duluth Marshall’s Jamie Waterhouse in 2001.

Ashland’s Aneesa Tucker was also a double winner (800 and triple jump) as was Cloquet Kelly Lorenz (100 and 300 hurdles).

The Hermantown girls also won three of four relay events.

The Superior boys had four conference champions — Gunnar Gronski (300 hurdles), Sam Kline (high jump), Nicholas Ferrando (long jump) and the foursome of Chase Elder, Robin Preston, Steven Pearson and Matthew Buerger in the 4x200 relay.

Duluth Marshall’s Jonathan Burt won three events, 100, 200 and 400 dashes; Ashland’s Walker Miller won the 1,600 and 3,200; and Evan Erickson came in first in the shot put and discus throw.

The Spartans will also host the WIAA Division 1 regional meet at 3:30 p.m. Monday.

The top four individuals will advance to Thursday’s sectional meet at D.C. Everest.
