The OpenIV shutdown made fans outraged and upset

Rockstar and Take-Two Interactive decided to shut down the modding tool OpenIV. Needless to say, this upset many fans, who tried all possible measures to bring OpenIV back. They tried offering bad reviews, launching petitions, and some of them even created an artistic manifesto.

Fans try everything to have OpenIV back

Fans resorted to desperate measures to have their favorite modding tool back. Around 38,000 people gave GTA V negative reviews on Steam, leading to its general score to drop to the ‘overwhelmingly negative’ status. Also, a petition on change.org to retrieve the tool has already gathered more than 45,000 signatures.

GTA Series Videos decided to take part in this protest movement, and created their own way of opposing OpenIV’s shutdown. They made a video titled The Purge (RIP Mods) featuring agents with Rockstar and Take-Two Interactive badges which come and kill off modding characters. The video was created in GTA V, with the help of the OpenIV tool.

Using creativity to protest in the GTA Series video

Creators were not afraid to make things graphic, as they depicted characters like Hulk and Mario, which the tool brought into the game, being run over in slow-motion by the merciless agents. Then, they blow up the DeLorean mod from Back to the Future. Other modding characters are either imprisoned or killed.

They were not afraid to speak to the emotional side of people, and brought Harambe the gorilla in the video as well. As expected, not even …
