The Indianapolis Colts will host the Detroit Lions on Sunday afternoon in the first week of the 2017 NFL preseason. Here is how to watch the game online.

The last two teams to play their first 2017 NFL preseason game will be the Indianapolis Colts and the Detroit Lions. These two teams will meet at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis on Sunday, Aug 13 at 1:30 p.m. ET. The NFL Network will have the national broadcast. NFL Game Pass and FuboTV will have the available live streams.

While the first preseason game rarely has the starters playing any meaningful snaps, this game is significant because Colts star quarterback Andrew Luck is still not cleared to throw after undergoing offseason shoulder surgery. His backup in Scott Tolzien will get the start for Indianapolis.

While 2017 could end up being a rough year for the Colts if Luck can’t play in most of it, this is a massively important season for the Lions. Are they consistent enough to get back into the NFC Playoffs? Detroit went 9-7 and secured the No. 6 seed last year, but won a ton of close games. It didn’t help that starting quarterback Matthew Stafford had a busted finger post-Thanksgiving on his throwing hand. Next: All live stream info in one place

Frankly, this is a year where both teams need to play well. One could argue that both head coaches in Jim Caldwell with the Lions and Chuck…

It's hard to figure out exactly who Scott Tolzien is, other than the Colts' likely starting quarterback in Week 1. He doesn't have an Instagram or Twitter account. He only regularly uses one app on his phone (the weather app). His teammates say he's a great presence in the locker room, but not much else. In short, Tolzien is the quintessentially normal (his word!) backup…
