Leonardtown, MD- The son of the former head of Vice/Narcotics Division for the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office is facing a laundry list of charges stemming from several different crimes.

Daniel David Alioto Jr., 25 of Great Mills, is facing charges for crimes from January to July of this year—including drug charges.

In January, officers responded to a home along Garfield Street in Great Mills to investigate several suspicious items discovered by the homeowner. She told the officers the items belonged to her grandson, Alioto. Lab tests returned in April and confirmed the items found contained cocaine and heroin.

Alioto wasn’t charged until July 8 with two counts of controlled dangerous substance (CDS) possession-not marijuana and two counts of CDS possession paraphernalia.

On June 29, police say Alioto followed a woman from work and confronted her at Flat Iron Farm. The victim told investigators Alioto busted out her truck window and damaged the paint on her truck.

An arrest warrant wasn’t issued for Alioto until July 20. Alioto was charged with malicious destruction of property.

June 30, police say Alioto broke into a home along Flat Iron Road and stole a Dewalt Drill and two marine batteries. Police recovered the stolen property at a pawn shop where it was confirmed Alioto was the one who pawned the drill.

Alioto is charged with two counts of burglary and one counts of theft.

On July 12 police said Alioto stole a 1974 Jaco utility trailer, a John Deer lawn tractor, a Porter Cable generator and an air compressor. The trailer and tractor belonged to the Harry Lundberg School of Seamanship (HLSS) and were valued at $4,500. A witness told police Alioto stole the equipment out of a pole barn located on a farm owned by HLSS. The owner of the generator and air compressor said his property was stolen from another barn located on the same property.

Police said Alioto admits to…
