India’s Union Sports Ministry has launched the scheme of Target Olympic Podium (TOP) for the 2016 Olympics barely a year and a half before the mega sports event. Now, the sports ministry is trying to launch another scheme to produce a better result for the 2020 Olympics. This time the sports ministry is planning to launch the TOP scheme three years before the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

The central government of India taking the cue of India’s performance in the 2016 Olympics set a task force to prepare a plan for effective participation in the Olympics soon after the Rio Games.

Talking about the work of task force Indian sports minister Vijay Goel, who was in Rio de Janeiro with the Indian contingent during the Rio Olympic, said that they didn’t announce any names of the members of the task force, but “ we have formalized everything.
